  • dog crate.jpg
    Crate

A crate is a crucial training tool. These crates all come with a divider as well so you can buy one large crate and move the divider rather than buying 3 or 4 crates over the course of the puppy growing period.

    Toys

Toys should be somewhat indestructible. The last thing you want is your puppy destroying a toy and choking on the pieces. For this reason, I prefer nylabones, kongs, and chuck it balls. I avoid plush and rope toys. Another thing to keep in mind: Don’t buy too many toys. If your dog is constantly chewing then that is what they will do when there are no toys around! They need to learn to be toy-less.

  • elevated dog bed.jpg
    Dog Bed

We love elevated dog beds. It keeps them off a cold or warm floor. Don’t buy a bed for the crate. Puppies will pee on them and push them to the side. Or they will chew them apart and choke.

  • dog food bowl.jpg
    Dog Bowls

The best dog bowls to buy are stainless steel ones. They are far superior when it comes to cleanliness. Plastic dog bowls are porous and hold on to a lot of bacteria. For size, 3 cups is great for puppies, but you will want something 5 cups and up for adults. Bigger bowls tend to contain the mess a little better. You can get an elevated dog bowl holder if you would like.

    Dog Food

There are a million different things to feed your dog, and the process is overwhelming. You have to select a type of food (Dry kibble, kibble with supplements, wet food, raw food) before you can select a brand. Through years of research, I have found feeding dogs a raw diet is by far the most nutritious, if done properly. Vets tend to sell and promote dry kibble. While every top competition/show dog is most likely on a raw diet. I am happy to talk you through the process over the phone if you are having trouble finding a good type of food or brand. I already did the research and am happy to share what I have found.
